Pumpkin Patch

Of course we had to do it...the proverbial pumpkin patch with the kiddies/petting zoo for fall. It was definitely a hit with the little guy! Top things we liked about our outing:

1. Nash loved the hayride. Loved.
2. Fried apple pie, apple cider and our first boiled peanuts (apparently a southern thing everyone says you have to try, it tasted like salty potatoes...still deciding on that one).
3. We picked out three big ole pumpkins for carving.
4. The baby animals Nash was enamored with.
5. And lastly, the people watching. Nash decided to throw a baby pumpkin at a toothless southern gentleman. After I told him I was sorry he said something I couldn't understand. Sometimes "southern" is it's own language. Also there was a family there taking pictures all dressed in the same variation of an orange getup the mom had made ...mostly I wish I had gotten a picture of that.

My little sister Carleigh came with us too! Her an Nash are besties.

Summer happenings

We had a great summer with lots of time together, which was nice because Andrew's schedule is crazy these days. Most days he is at school from 6am to 11pm...gross. But his hard work has been paying off and he has been doing really well. I am so proud of him! It has been so nice to be able to live in my parents basement apartment because Nash and I get to hang out with my parents and little sister at night. Nash is totally obsessed with his Papa. Other current obsessions include watermelon, green drink, vaccums, lawn mowers, really anything that makes loud noises this kid is in heaven.

I have been doing hair a lot at night when I can find someone to watch Nash which has been awesome. I'm finishing up my degree online with BYU-I so that has been keeping me busy as well as doing side jobs for my mom's gourmet cookie company, Heidi's Heavenly Cookies.

Here are some pics from our trip to FL to visit Katie, Steen, and the Kids for Katie's bday. We had the absolute BEST time. They are the best hosts ever and can't wait to see them again. Thanks again!

June Wedding in LA

My ever so darling cousin got married in the LA Temple in July! We spent a week out there hanging out with the family. It was the most gorgeous sealing and reception!!! It was Andrew and Nash's first trip to LA, as I spent all my summers growing up there with my dearest cousins. It was also Nash's first trip to the beach. It was a cold day and of course he had to try out the sand...yum! We are all settled here in Atlanta...more on that and all the fun we have been having soon!

Twenty-five

I just celebrated 25 years! Andrew woke me up to a yummy breakfast of waffles, Nutella and strawberries, my fav. He always makes me the best home made cards too. He got me these shoes from urban outfitters...

a cute wallet and some potted Lilies. He is always soo good about surprising me with what he gets me and always does a great job. I can never keep a secret when it comes to his gifts because he is so dang picky. I either hint around too much or just ask him exactly what he wants. boring.

That night he told me he had a surprise and that we were going somewhere for dinner. We ended up at Courtney and Jordan's house where she had made a great dinner for us, Pierina and Jacob, and Chris, Mary and baby Ella. It was so fun to hang out and see everyone. Thanks for a great bday!

Andrew made this AMAZING ice cream cake!

Traumatic

Most kids lose their first tooth between ages 4 and 8. Nash was 10 1/2 months. Andrew sent this email out to some family members. Still makes me cringe just thinking about it...

While I was at work I get a phone call and all I hear is, "Blood..... tooth.... crying..." Keali was TRYING to tell me what happened but the scary moment got the best of her and made it difficult to speak. I ran home, (literally ran since I walked to work this morning) and find Nash smiling and Keali crying. Moments earlier Nash was chewing on the end of the draw string that pulls our window shades up and down. We discovered he liked doing this a few weeks ago so we normally hang the cord out of reach. Today we regrettably missed it. While standing next to the window he had the string in his mouth and must have fallen. The string pulled his tooth out in an instant and the blood began to pour out. He cried for about 1 minute and calmed down rather quickly. Keali on the other hand took much longer to calm down. When she heard him fall she thought it was just a normal fall (happens about 50 times a day) but when he started crying and she saw a cute little tooth on the carpet, the adrenaline began to pump. The horrific amount of blood gushing out of his mouth made the moment even that much more terrifying.

Since nothing like this has ever happened to us we rushed Nash to our dentist to see what could be done. Since he's just a tyke and the tooth came completely out root and all, we'll just have to wait until his big-boy tooth fills in the space in about seven years. Let's just say, we'll be reminded often of this incident every time Nash smiles at us! :-( The lucky tooth was just to the right of his front teeth. The strangest thing is that this tooth had just broken through about a week ago and was barely protruding... just enough I guess.

As you can see in the video, Nash has quickly recovered and has started to walk with the help of his walker toy. He is happier and more fun than ever. We love him so much and think he's the cutest boy in the world, even with a pirate tooth. As for Keali, she is still recovering from the trauma. She blames herself but needs to know that accidents do and will happen.

Just thought everyone might enjoy a fun/sad story to brighten/sadden up your day.

Love to all,
AJ
